Coaching and Mentoring
The purpose of this course is to train experienced teachers to mentor and coach teachers within their buildings. Participants will concentrate on developing effective mentoring relationships and understanding the particular needs of new teachers. Course participants will apply the 5-Step Case-Analysis Method to understand the characteristics of good mentors, develop strategies to promote mentee growth and development, and explore issues affecting the mentoring relationship.

Designing and Assessing Technology-Enhanced Lessons
Technology has the power to revolutionize how we teach and broaden what our students learn. This course explores how technology supports learning and enables teachers to develop, teach, and assess effective technology-enhanced lessons.

Differentiating Instruction: Addressing Culture, Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences
Our cultures, learning styles, and various intelligences affect the ways we teach and learn. In this course, participants will first gain an understanding of the ways these factors influence their instructional decisions. Next, working from their own preferences, course participants will broaden their approaches to provide opportunities for learning that match students' differing needs.

Differentiating Instruction: Grouping Students to Target Needs
Teachers understand the value of differentiated instruction, and they know that in order to differentiate effectively they need practical solutions to management and logistical challenges. This course provides an overview of various approaches to differentiation along with grouping strategies that will simplify planning and streamline implementation of this powerful instructional approach.

Differentiating Instruction: Special, Regular, and Gifted Education Students
Working in the inclusive classroom provides rich opportunities for both teachers and students to understand and embrace differences. Along with these opportunities comes the need to reach a broad range of students with different abilities and readiness. This course provides insight into related issues and strategies for reaching all students—including special education, regular education, and gifted education students—in the inclusive classroom setting.

Math Technology Integration
Course participants will develop instructional skills needed for integrating educational technologies into their existing math curriculum. Participants will reflect upon how technology enhances teaching and learning and prepares students for further study and professional work in the 21st century.

Reading, Writing, and Technology Across Content Areas, Secondary
This course focuses on utilizing technology to help high-school students better comprehend content-area reading material and express their understanding using the written word. Emphasis is placed on a framework that asks students to monitor their own thinking, select appropriate strategies, and use technology to improve their understanding and communication abilities. Teachers will apply course content using the curricular materials and technology available in their school buildings.

Secondary Math Methods
This course focuses on secondary education math instructional methods and their application in mixed-ability classrooms. Course participants will develop instructional skills needed for designing, implementing, and assessing secondary math lessons. Using cases and online resources as a launching point, teachers will be given the opportunity to participate in on-line discussions regarding beliefs, best practices, challenges, current research, and examine ways to apply them to their own teaching practice.

Teacher Collaboration
This course provides both a rationale for increasing teacher collaboration and nuts and bolts strategies for achieving this end. Course participants will review case studies dealing with teacher collaboration challenges and work together to create solutions to these problems. They will then apply similar strategies to their own teaching settings, focusing on practical ways to improve collaboration in their own schools.

Technology and Schools: Challenges and Change
This course explores issues surrounding the infusion of technology into our schools: its impact on learning, questions of access and equity, and the development of media literacy skills.

Using Alternative Assessments to Improve Student-Centered Learning
This course focuses on developing and using alternative assessment strategies that allow all students to show what they know so teachers may better target instruction. Course participants will review and evaluate various assessment approaches and develop strategies connected to their own curriculum and students' needs, including English language learners and others for whom traditional assessments may not provide an accurate measure of their knowledge and abilities.
