The ten cases in
the CaseNEX program highlight issues and obstacles facing students
with different backgrounds, concerns, and aspirations in their
senior year of high school.
Participants watch videos and read scenes about the choices and
decisions facing these six students--decisions that they themselves
are probably facing as well. With the help of a teacher-facilitator,
participants use the 5-step method to analyze the characters' choices
and options and suggest possible solutions. They can then apply
the analytical skills and knowledge they gain to their own lives.
The fictionalized cases include interviews and testimonials from
a wide array of sources: college and vocational school students
who faced similar issues and challenges; guidance counselors offering
advice to current juniors and seniors; and college presidents
and vocational school administrators explaining the options available.
Online resources are included to help students explore solutions
to the issues presented in the cases.
