Flexible Implementation
Educators and administrators participate in CaseNEX courses to enhance skills,
maintain certification, and earn university credits. Courses are available for professional
development units/continuing education units, as well as graduate credit through our
partner universities Hampton University, Western Oregon University, and University of
Virginia. The online programs afford flexibility and convenience to busy educators
and efficiency to school leaders. A "train-the-trainer" model allows school systems
to integrate entire CaseNEX programs, thus building professional development capacity
at the local level - a critical ingredient of modern school reform initiatives.
CaseNEX also provides expert course instructors and monitors with advanced degrees
in their content area and significant classroom and leadership experience.

DeKalb County School System (DCSS), Georgia
Overcoming the constraints of face-to-face professional development
DCSS, a large metropolitan school district reaching almost 100,000 students, was faced with a significant professional development challenge-the state of Georgia mandated a four-course endorsement program for teachers working with gifted students. Increased demand for the endorsement exceeded the capacity of any face-to-face professional development program. Seeing this need, the county partnered with CaseNEX to develop and implement online versions of the four-course sequence. At the completion of the program's first year, the CaseNEX gifted program exceeded DCSS' original goals. Over 200 teachers enrolled, representing an increase of over 200%. Seeing the success of the gifted program, DCSS decided to partner with CaseNEX to create an online English as a Second Language (ESOL) endorsement program as well.

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), Virginia
Building tomorrow's leader through systematic change
Funded by a Wallace Foundation grant, the Learning, Empowering, Assessing, and Developing (LEAD) Fairfax program seeks to identify, select, and train tomorrow's school-based administrators in FCPS. The partnership with CaseNEX develops ongoing training to enhance student achievement through systemic leadership change. Participating interns were among the first to be hired as new assistant principals and the sitting principals commented on their ability to apply theory to practice, their depth of understanding of current administrative topics, and their broad perspective on educational leadership issues. Now in its second year of partnership, CaseNEX and LEAD Fairfax have developed a model program with the demonstrated capacity to build tomorrow's leaders.
