The University of Alabama/CaseNEX Online Professional Development Courses Registration is OPEN. In collaboration with the University of Alabama, CaseNEX will offer a series of 5, 10-hour self-paced courses, available on demand. Through CaseNEX online courses, educators are exposed to the latest research regarding content knowledge and instructional strategies. CaseNEX courses allow educators to further their education and career prospects while continuing to improve their teaching skills. Participants collaborate with peers and receive instructor feedback from the comfort of their home. All materials and assignments are accessed and completed online. Courses are 4 weeks in length, and easy to integrate into a busy schedule. Course costs are listed below and refund information can be found on our FAQs page. Course List Differentiation for the Gifted Course participants will examine rationales for differentiating instruction to meet the needs of gifted learners, including those from diverse backgrounds. Using the cases as a launching point, teachers will be given the opportunity to participate in on-line collaboration regarding beliefs, best practices, challenges, current research, and ways to apply this information to their own teaching practice. Differentiation for Special Education Students Course participants will develop the instructional and leadership skills necessary to differentiate learning for students will special learning needs, as well as students at risk for academic and social failure. Participants will reflect upon how these concepts drive instructional practices in today's challenging classroom environment. ESOL Instructional Strategies This course is intended for both regular education and ESOL teachers and will focus on developing instructional strategies for supporting ESOL students in content area learning. Course participants will develop instructional and leadership skills needed for teaching ESOL. Narrowing the Achievement Gap Along with the increased standardization spelled out in local and national educational policy comes the need and responsibility for a more complex understanding of diversity, equity, and their relevance to education. The purpose of this course is to engage in a collaborative exploration of differences to ensure equity and social justice in our classrooms and schools. Classroom Management This course is designed to provide teachers with knowledge and skills for managing instructional settings. Emphasis will be placed on creating constructive teacher-student relationships, establishing a positive classroom environment, and coping with class conflict. [top]
